Studies show that vitamin d deficiency leads to muscle hypotrophy, muscle weakness, fatigue, regenerative muscle potential, cognitive impairment, and hypoandrogenism. Research supports that vitamin d has a great impact on muscle maintenance, strength, and function. Also, vitamin d has shown to decrease specific adipocytes (fat cells). All of these aspects are relevant to everyone, ultimately having the greatest impact to those with musculoskeletal diseases and with the aging population.
